1. Who We Are

CleanR ("we", "us", "our") operates an online marketplace connecting cleaning service seekers with independent cleaning professionals. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use our platform.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following types of personal data:

  • Account Information: Full name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and account type (Poster/Cleaner).
  • Payment Information: Processed and stored securely by Stripe. We do not store your full card number. We store only the last 4 digits and card brand for display purposes.
  • Job Data: Job descriptions, postcodes, photos uploaded to job listings, quotes, messages, and reviews.
  • Verification Data: DBS certificate uploads and insurance documents (for Cleaners who choose to verify).
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, device information, and IP address for analytics and security.
  • Location Data: Postcode-based location for job matching and radius search. We do not track GPS location.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and operate the CleanR marketplace platform.
  • To process payments and manage escrow transactions via Stripe.
  • To match Cleaners with nearby job listings based on postcode.
  • To send notifications about job updates, quotes, and platform announcements.
  • To verify user identity and prevent fraud.
  • To calculate reward points and manage tier progression.
  • To improve the platform through analytics and user feedback.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract Performance: To fulfil our obligations when you use CleanR (account management, payments, job matching).
  • Legitimate Interests: To improve the platform, prevent fraud, and ensure security.
  • Consent: For optional communications like marketing emails and push notifications (you can opt out at any time in Settings → Job Alerts).
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with UK tax, financial, and data protection regulations.

5. Data Sharing

We share your data only in the following cases:

  • Between Users: When a Poster hires a Cleaner, contact details (name, phone) are shared to facilitate the job.
  • Stripe: Payment data is processed by Stripe Inc. under their own privacy policy.
  • Supabase: Our database and authentication provider, operating under their data processing agreement.
  • Law Enforcement: When required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (e.g., financial transaction data is retained for 7 years for tax compliance).

7. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Correct any inaccurate data (you can do this in Settings → Account Info).
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.

8. Cookies

CleanR uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Analytics data is collected anonymously to improve the platform experience.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including: encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), Row-Level Security on our database, secure authentication via Supabase Auth, and PCI-compliant payment processing via Stripe. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

10. Children

CleanR is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or platform notification. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the latest revision.
